Shannon is a distinguished healthcare executive with 24 years of experience in the industry. She is a leader of collaboration and collaboratives that develop strong relationships and build consensus throughout multiple organizations. Shannon is passionate about rural healthcare and healthcare transformation and specializes in network and business development. She has record success in creating economy of scale and scope while protecting financial autonomy for participating providers.
She spent her last five years in network and business development in value-based healthcare transformation and alternative payment models with an emphasis on Practice Transformation and Collaborative Accountable Care Organizations. While serving as Vice President of Network Development for a grantee under the Transforming Clinical Practices Initiatives, a Centers for Medicare and Medical Innovation (CMMI) program, she gained knowledge and experience in assisting clinical practices, rural health clinics and federally qualified health centers in readying for participation in value-based payment models. She also served as Vice President for a national leader in the transformation and implementation of innovative healthcare models for supporting quality, cost-effectiveness, and health promotion for the improvement of the well-being of rural and community health systems.
For more than 20 years Shannon led the development of virtual integration, where hospital members utilize network business lines to access enterprise solutions while maintaining financial autonomy. Her work includes the development of a rural PPO network, provider/payor contracting and credentialing, fee strategy development, direct contracting with employers, and development of a strategy for CHIP and Medicaid. Much of Shannon’s work focuses on programs that better position providers for healthcare payment and delivery reform and her goal is to create sustainable solutions for both the network and the network’s healthcare members.
Shannon currently serves as chair of the board of the Texas Health Services Authority. The Authority’s purpose is promoting, implementing, and facilitating the secure electronic exchange of health information in the State of Texas
Shannon completed her BS at Texas A&M/College Station and recently received a certification in Executive Coaching.
